Susan Mills Introduction to Bookbinding

Do you want to get things together in book form? Or make yourself a custom notebook? Have you ever wondered just how a book is made? In this workshop you will learn the basics of hand binding. We will cover hand tools, materials and adhesives. We will make paperback and hardcover books, glued and sewn books, single sheet and ‘signature’ books and even an accordion. We will work with both historical and contemporary structures and materials. Everyone with an interest in books is welcome.

All materials and the use of tools are included.

Susan Mills has been binding books and teaching bookbinding for a quarter century! She is on the faculty of Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax and of The Center for Book Arts in New York.

Dates: Sundays, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, July 10th and 17th
