Book Swap “Adventures in Book Making”

We are announcing a new swap/book exchange for 2017! In this swap you will be required to choose a binding method (can be simple or complicated – you can choose), perhaps this is one you are very familiar with, or perhaps it is a binding you have always wanted to learn. Everyone will have a different binding to explore, and in the end you will make an edition of your book, one copy for each participant, and we’ll swap! That means you will receive a copy of everyone’s book in exchange for a copy of your own. In addition, for this swap we are also asking you to provide the instructions for your binding, and so you’ll also get the steps for making each binding method as well! This is going to be the ultimate book making adventure!

If you would like to commit to this “Adventure in Book Making”, please email cbbagsk@gmail.com and let us know which binding you would like to tackle. We’ll keep a list of the bindings already taken listed below, so you’ll know what is already “claimed”.

List of Bindings Currently Reserved for the Swap:

  1. panel book
  2. accordion book
  3. double fold book with original art concertina
  4. Japanese stab binding
  5. caterpillar stitch binding

Timeline: Sign up for the swap by Dec. 16th, 2016, completed books will be due in January 2018, and we’ll have a big swap reveal date shortly after that. So you’ll have a year to get this swap completed.

Thanks everyone! The swap is now closed, an email going out to swap participants will be forthcoming in the new year!

    Hi Robin,

I had sent in my choice to Leann on Aug. 22.

It is the ” Flat-style Australian Reverse Hinge Binding” one.

Can you add it to the list?

I’ve moved to the West Coast but look forward to “playing” along and hope to join you at the reveal in about a year or so.

    All the best,

    Corrie Beyer Koopman
